In the tradition of his heroes Rodgers and Hart, Harold Arlen and Jimmy Van Heusen, Larry Gelb is writing songs with real melodies and intelligent lyrics. Gelb started playing the piano at age seven. Today, he has written over 800 songs, including work for film scores, musicals, jingles and jazz compositions. Composer/lyricist and jazz pianist/teacher Larry Gelb has released a 26-song compilation of some of his most trenchant, witty, and soulful songs in The Larry Gelb Songbook, Volume I essentially a return to American standards.
