A witty, crafty wordsmith with an attention demanding delivery from the most unlikely source, Swisha was born with a gift to speak in rhyme with skill. Heavily influenced by the east coast rappers of the early and mid-90s as well as other genres of music, Swisha began writing and honing his craft at the age of 14. He quickly earned the respect of others in his city from rhyming in ciphas and battles. Also being an athlete, Swisha did not immediately have dreams to make it big in music.

It wasnt until Swisha went to college at The University of Southern Mississippi where he quickly realized what his calling was. Rhyming in numerous ciphas and battling other rappers in college seemed like deja vu to him but still he earned the respect on a much bigger scale amongst other rappers and students. His name quickly grew as an artist and was a standout from the rest because of his east-coast accent and frequent, witty punch line use. Although writing verses and battling was fulfilling, Swisha had no producers to work with and wasn't able to write songs because of the lack of production. He saved refund checks from college and also worked until he was able to afford music equipment and started producing tracks for himself.

For this son of an accomplished and highly respected gospel producer and former member of the Mississippi group ,The Wind Chimes, music production came quite easily for him. Swisha wanted his music production to be as good as his wordplay so he worked countless hours on his music production. It was this same time where he also learned how to engineer and mix his own music and began to gain positive feedback from peers because of his professional sound as well as the love of the music he made. Gaining more confidence after receiving more positive feedback, Swisha decided to work on a mixtape to help gain more fans around the state and nationally. He completed The Voice Of The Crooked Vol. 1 giving fans an idea of the person as well as skill. Every track on the mixtape was tracked, engineered, mixed by Swisha and he also mastered the project himself. Using the checks he collected from his part time job, he bought the materials to press up copies and ship them out to various locations around the nation. He went on to push over 3000 copies of his first mixtape in major markets including Miami, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles.

This self-taught producer and engineer who had also taught himself how to write in song format has gained a name for himself in a state that has been virtually an untapped resource. He is quoted as saying, living in Mississippi trying to establish a name for yourself in the music industry is like being stranded in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with flares screaming for help hoping someone will notice you and save you. You can hear his frustrations about this in his lyrics. Even though this among a lot of other things frustrates him as an artist, he remains optimistic about his future knowing that all he needs is one chance and speaking from his heart about his passion will help him capture and seize the moment.
